We just came into the Julia Street Cruise Terminal in New Orleans as the sun was rising and I was lucky enough to be on the side of the ship that was facing it. The bridges in the photo are called Crescent City Connection and they were formerly known as the Greater New Orleans Bridge. Construction of the first bridge began in 1954 over the Mississippi River and opened in 1958. The second bridge was not built until March of 1981 and was completed in 1988. The Crescent City Connection ranks as the fifth longest cantilever bridge in the world and is the farthest downstream bridge on the Mississippi River.
